The Grand Banks 42 Motoryacht has been decades in the making. The original Ken Smith design has been amended and updated with the practical input of her owners. The experience gained since the laying of the first GB 42 keel in 1966 is reflected in each one commissioned today. Her practical layout, sturdy fiberglass construction, deep water design, and long-range capability all add up to a complete cruising boat. The Grand Banks semi-displacement hull design, with a fine entry forward, hard chines aft, and a full keel has been proven on waters around the world. Twin diesel power will deliver economy at hull speed and provide higher cruising speeds. The exterior of the hull and deckhouse on the GB 42 is smooth gel-coated fiberglass. Teak decking is laid over the fiberglass on the main deck and flybridge. The bulwarks surrounding the wide main deck are capped with a sturdy teak safety rail providing safe movement from bow to stern for those on board.
The Motoryacht provides increased living space with a spacious, full-width stateroom aft, and two additional staterooms forward. The aft sundeck expands the outdoor living area and provides room for storage.
The open bright main salon makes for a great entertainment area. The main salon features a long "L" shaped settee and the traditional Grand Banks teak yacht table located on the starboard aft side. Across on the port side is a bench seat with under storage and a door to the side decks. The Galley is up and to port with a large sink, a 3 burner electric cooktop, microwave oven, and Grunert holding plate refrigerator. Opposite on the starboard is the lower helm station and door to starboard side decks. Directly behind the helm is an optional bar with an icemaker.
The aft stateroom, like the entire boat, displays the beautiful teak joinery with a teak parquet sole, built-in furniture, cabinets, and hand-crafted moldings. The master stateroom features an island queen berth layout with a private owner's head on the port side and a separate stall shower located to starboard.
The forward guest cabin features a large v-berth, hanging locker, 6 drawers, bookshelves, reading lights, and an overhead hatch. To starboard is the forward head and features a stall shower, sink, mirror, storage, and counter space.
The mid-stateroom features a Pullman berth, pocket door, reading lights, extra storage, wardrobe & custom bookcases.
The motor yacht design features a full-beam aft deck located above the master stateroom. This is a great area for entertaining, relaxing, or cruising.
The large flybridge has large seating areas and features excellent visibility when underway or maneuvering dockside. A pair of back-to-back double seats provide generous seating for eight with storage beneath. On the aft starboard side of the flybridge is a teak table, an L-shaped lounge seat with cushions, and more storage below. The bridge console has full instrumentation and electronics plenty of storage and the Grand Banks hallmark; a handcrafted teak-spoked steering wheel with stainless steel trim.
