When pondering the Catalina Morgan 440, its probably best to throw preconceptions out the window. It’s certainly designed for longer distance and offers more offshore capability than many vessels in its length. Clear the mental slate and tackle the 440 on its own merits!

The 440 combines the rugged offshore features of Morgan with the comfort, ergonomics and style of a Catalina. Cruisers want speed under sail, easy motion and sure, predictable handling characteristics. The hull form of the 440 is conservative and sea-kindly and designed not to pound when going to weather or powering into seas. Offering the stability of a very low center of gravity, the 440 hull is stiff and comfortable.

Blue Aweigh has been well taken care of by her original owner. Powered by a Yanmar 75hp, she is equipped with an in-mast furling main and 135% jib. Heat/Air, Water maker, Solar Panels, 6 kw Fisher Panda Generator, full electronics,  Davits, Achilles Hard Bottom Dinghy and 8 hp outboard are just the beginning of her list of upgrades.

The 440 is built with the best that Catalina and Morgan Yachts has to offer. The 440 is a deck salon model with great visibility below.  Forward is the master stateroom featuring a centerline queen with inner spring mattress and plenty of storage underneath. Vanity with seat and cedar lined hanging locker, with private entrance to the head. The forward head is private and accessible only through the owner’s cabin. The spacious shower enclosure has folding panels of tempered glass.   Both heads have a polished stainless steel sink and single lever faucet, along with electric toilets. Both heads has been upgraded to have a Y valve to have “direct” overboard discharge capability and fresh water flush option  The main salon has a very light and airy feeling, not to mention the view! The upholstery is Brisa Ultra leather in a cream color and the floor is a composite teak and holly finish. To starboard is a "U" shaped salon dining table with seating for six. The teak table can fold partially up, lending to a small cocktail table or drop down completely to convert to a double berth.  To port is a unique sofa arrangement that converts into two recliners at each end with a center that drops down for a cocktail table.  Aft of the recliners and port of companionway is the Nav station with chair.  The aft stateroom lies port and aft of companionway with access to full head for privacy, which can also be accessed from the salon. The guest stateroom is very comfortable with a double berth, inner spring mattress. Access from the aft stateroom or through the port hatch of the cockpit is a workroom  with washer/dryer, two long shelves for storage, and plenty of deep storage.

Designed with the cruiser in mind, the cockpit features nine foot cockpit seats with deep back rests. Closed Cell cockpit cushions. cockpit table with folding leaves and folding wheel add to comfort and convenience.

The galley is located just 3 steps below the cockpit and is on the same level as the salon. The refrigeration system is both AC and DC power and automatically switches power sources when shore power is connected. The freezer compartment is stainless steel lined and well insulated. Sails and Sail Handling

Deck stepped, double spreader Charles In-Mast Furling Rig

A high strength, structural foam and aluminum grid system attaches the fiberglass hull to the one piece molded fiberglass liner and supports the engine and tanks, while structuring the mast step and keel attachment area. All transverse rigging loads are borne by the aluminum and fiber glass grid system and not by the hull. An important feature for offshore sailing is the watertight collision bulkhead. Heavily fiberglassed to the deck and hull, it is just aft of the divided anchor locker.
