This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to purchase an exceptional, highly sought after, center cockpit, blue water sailing yacht. Below decks there are two separate cabin areas, each with a water closet, making her comfortable and private for two couples, Capt. and crew. (Aft cabin is shower only but can converted back to having a toilet) Dinette area in the main salon converts to a double berth, sleeps 2. Plenty of room for crew, friends and/or family for short overnight island trips, or long excursions, towards Hawaii and beyond. With some TLC, (as with any pre-owned vessel) this Kelly-Peterson designed Formosa 46 will have no problems getting you there safely, in comfort and in style. They just don’t make them like this anymore. A large center cockpit, wide side decks for easy safe access to foredeck and bow. She has been owned by the same wonderful people that purchased her nearly 25 years ago. Owners are reluctantly looking to find her a new home, as time takes its toll on us all, although the motors have been run, she has not been out in a few years. Wandering Star is a truly remarkable vessel for the right owner. Peterson’s designed sailing vessels have pioneered many innovations in racing and cruising yachts. In the 1970s, Peterson’s designs dominated offshore racing events, with a string of winning high-profile IOR boats. Designed for Jack Kelly, the Kelly-Peterson Formosa 46, of which only 30 were built. As of 2017, hull number 30, the last one built, is currently circumnavigating the globe. Peterson had an attention to detail and quality, So much so, that In the early 1980s Hans Christian Yachts, commissioned Peterson to design their 48 and 52 Christina models. The history is clear, the Formosa 46 has an undisputable, proven set of bones, that will accommodate most any nautical adventure that you can conceive of.

A little about her construction. A production built 46 Peterson design sailing yacht, she is manufactured from reinforced fiberglass hull and deck. Molded in 3⁄4 cut away forefoot keel, rounded bilges, fiberglass rudder, with bronze gudgeons. The galley is aft with a secure countertop “U” shaped. Top load refer/freezer, stainless steel sinks, numerous drawers, lockers, and shelves.

The original single aluminum mast with double aluminum spreaders, and aluminum boom are held in place by the 1×19 stainless steel standing rigging. Many upgrades will be needed. The new owner will be doing what the current owners did when they bought her 25 years ago. Wood, Upgrades, Repairs, Etc.. Plenty of life left in this blue water beauty.

Sellers realize that Wandering Star will need some work and although there are no intentions to ‘give the boat away’ they are open to all reasonable offers. In this day, having a true blue water cruiser may be the only thing you need to stay safe. It is amazing what we see many people do as they set themselves up with a solid sailing vessel and take to the peacefulness of the ocean, and venturing out. If you’re not afraid of a little work, this vessel could be the right bluewater boat for you and your ‘crew.’

Surveys and Inspections will of course answer many questions.
