In their own words.
Buyers and sellers from Santa Barbara to San Diego on what it’s like to work with the Seacoast Yachts team.

Buying and later selling my 1984 40 ft Marine Trader yacht was an unforgettable journey, made exceptional by the guidance and expertise of Tim Hagan. From the very beginning, Tim took the time to understand what I was looking for, even when I didn’t, and then walked me through every step with patience, professionalism, and a deep knowledge of boating. As a first-time yacht buyer, I had plenty of questions, and Tim never hesitated to share his insight — not just about the buying process, but about boating itself. His passion for what he does shines through in everything, and thanks to him, I gained not only an incredible boat but also a solid foundation of boating knowledge that I’ll carry with me forever.
When the time came to sell, there was no question who I’d call. Tim once again went above and beyond, making the process smooth and stress-free. His honesty, dedication, and work ethic are rare, and through both transactions, he became more than a broker — he became a trusted advisor and a true friend. I will always use Tim as my broker for any future boating needs, and I enthusiastically recommend him to anyone looking to buy or sell. You simply won’t find anyone better.
Thanks Tim for who you are and what you do! – Rob

Greg is honest, and was very helpful during trying negotiations and purchase.
We would highly recommend him again in the future.

It’s been a real pleasure working with Vicki at Seacoast Yachts. I live in New England and I recently purchased a small New England built 15′ 10″ wooden Haven 12.5 sailboat. Even though I am certain the sale of my little sailboat has been tiny compared to all of the yachts Seacoast represents, I feel as though I was treated no differently than they would on the sale of their largest yacht.
Thank You Vicki Van Hook! I would do business with you again in a heartbeat!

Vicki, I can’t thank you enough for all you’ve done to make this dream become a reality. As much as I thought I’d love it, it’s even more wonderful. You are a goddess! Please keep in touch.
Your new yachting pal, Karen

“This is the second boat I have bought through Seacoast and both times have been a great experience.” Successful joint sale with Seacoast of Channel Islands Craig Watkins representing the seller and Seacoast of Santa Barbara Vicki Van Hook representing the buyer.

You guys are the best! Tom appreciates all you did to make it a successful and happy sale/sail.

Rick and I go back a few years. He sold our Perry 47 Cutter in 2010 and when it was time to return to boats, I naturally called him to assist.
After listening to our wants and needs, Rick set up showings of boats we thought would meet our requirements. Rick knew our style and taste, knew what would meet our experience level. He never once showed us something that didn’t fit our parameters and/or budget. We decided fairly quickly and needed to move even quicker getting through the process of buying. Rick got it, and arranged haul-out, survey, including engine survey w/oil samples, and sea-trials on the same day!! Not my first rodeo, and I’ve never seen the process go so fast and smoothly. Rick managed all promptly and with professionalism. Delivery was done with detail and consideration.
That’s the way boat buying should go. With the right salesman, who understands the “art of the deal,” the processes involved, and the understanding that a “good deal” is where both buyer and seller are happy at the conclusion. Rick Christensen IS that right guy.

I want to write to tell you how happy we were with Vicki Van Hook. She helped us sell our classic wooden Ketch that had been in our family for 30 years. It was an emotional experience, moving from one life phase to the next and Vicki was supportive and helpful throughout the entire process. We would highly recommend her to anyone.

I am very pleased with Seacoast Yachts and Rick Christensen regarding the recent sale of my Pacific Seacraft, Dana 24. I chose Seacoast because their doors both in Channel Islands Harbor and in Santa Barbara seemed to be open far more often than other local brokers. I found Rick to be very knowledgable, professional and realistic as to the marketability of my boat. When an offer did come in I always felt I was in capable hands and felt Rick was the right person to close the deal. I can enthusiastically recommend Rick Christensen and Seacoast Yachts.

When we began the journey of looking for a yacht our good friend suggested we contact Rick Christiansen at Seacoast Yachts. So glad we did! Rick has been phenomenal in our opinion and we highly recommend him to anyone looking to buy or sell a boat. He’s very experienced about everything having to do with boats and has such a great sense of humor! He literally made it fun for us to go yacht shopping and we laughed along the way!
Rick took the time upfront to understand our expectations; experience level; wants and needs; the whole kit and caboodle! With those things in mind, he narrowed our search down to a few models and then guided us to just the right boat! We are so happy with our 2004 Beneteau 473.
One of the things we truly liked about Rick was that he was not afraid to give us his opinion, yet let us decide issues for ourselves after all the facts were in. That was important to us since we didn’t have the experience with a boat quite like the 473.
Another thing that impressed us about Rick was up and down the coast, he seemed to know everyone at the brokerage firms and also the marinas. He was on the phone getting things done for us and then when it was time to make an offer and complete the purchase, he was right there every step of the way. He insured that we got the boat we wanted — at a fair price!
If you are in the market to buy or sell a boat, please take our word for it and get Rick Christiansen on your side! You won’t be disappointed. We guarantee it!
Fair winds,
Jim & Dorothy

Hi Vicki,
Basha and I want to thank you for all your help in selling Paloma and her slip! Certainly, with all your experience, much of this is routine for you but not so for us. It went pretty smoothly on balance, and we certainly got more than I expected with your help on the pricing! Thanks!
Thanks again, and I hope I get the opportunity to recommend you to a buyer or seller in the future.
Brent

Vicki,
We are very grateful for your help and guidance. Love our slip!

The Coastal Craft 45 is built in British Columbia featuring an aluminum planing hull and pod drives.

What a great experience we had working with Vicki and her team in acquiring an upwind slip in Santa Barbara Harbor Marina #1. She knows everything and everybody in this awesome community and her vast experience made the purchase smooth as silk. And her help didn’t end there. Once we had the perfect slip, Vicki assisted us and gave us advice in finding the perfect boat for our 30′ slip. She made sure all the paperwork for the City Transfer and even the Coast Guard documentation was filled out properly and ready to go.
I see now how important it is to have a professional on your team when it comes to buying a boat or slip in the Santa Barbara Harbor and I highly recommend Vicki and Seacoast Yacht Sales!

Vicki,
It was a long road, and I thank you for all your tenacity and patience.
The Seacoast team has been fantastic from my purchase thru the sale.. journey of 17 years… world class and Santa Barbara cool!
As the saying goes “we are sad that the boat is gone..but glad that it happened.”
All the best and again thanks!

A smooth passage and safely in Santa Barbara.
A heartfelt Thank You to the entire Seacoast Team! Your professionalism, care and commitment has made this all possible.
With gratitude, Glenn & Hope

Hi Tim (Hagan),
We appreciate you. Your efforts made both processes as smooth as possible. I will recommend you to anyone looking to buy or sell. Take it easy.
Thanks, Steve

Hi Tim (Hagan),
Helga & I wish to thank you for your professionalism in the sale of our Tollycraft. When we purchased our next boat, your service in finding our Bayliner 3288 exceeded our expectations.
Bob & Helga Meyers

Dear Vicki,
A boat and a slip in the Santa Barbara Harbor – a dream 5 years ago is now a reality and we are so excited. In no small part it was made possible by your assistance, knowledge, experience and patience! We thank you so much for hanging in there and guiding us through the many hoops. Making the process a comfortable one was the strong sense of integrity that you bring to everything you do.
Warmest regards, George & Beth

We are Home! We had an auspicious and pleasantly eventful sail home from Alamitos Bay with dolphin escorts and an intimate greeting from a pair of gray whales right off the starboard cockpit.
Vicki, thank you for your guidance during the sale and closing, and Michael thank you for your support and advice with accessories after the sale. We are looking forward to trying out the dinghy on a trip we are scheduling to Catalina soon.
Life is good!
All our best,
Don and Barbara Pender

My wife and I would like to express gratitude to our boat agent Capt. Tim Hagan with Seacoast Yachts. Tim went above and beyond the call of duty in helping us find and secure the purchase of the perfect boat. He made the whole process very comfortable and even helped me move the boat to our new slip after the sale was completed.
It was a very enjoyable experience for us both thanks to Tim and of course the great 33 ft Riviera Flybridge Sportfish he helped us acquire. The boat is absolutely turn key and we couldn’t be happier with our purchase and with our dealings with Tim. Thanks much Tim and Seacoast Yachts.

I purchased a 1986 Ocean Alexander 50 located in Santa Barbara through Greg Weil at Seacoast Yachts. We live on an island in BC, Canada and are moving over to power from a 40 ft sailboat. Greg saw the process through to conclusion even with the obstacle of needing certain survey items done to satisfy the insurance company before the delivery voyage north. He made sure everything was taken care of and kept us informed all through the process.
Bringing the boat across the border was really easy, in part because of the thoroughness of the paperwork that Greg had provided. 1200 nautical miles, most of which was open ocean, and the boat performed great! Since home, we’ve already used it most weekends and look forward to a fabulous summer of boating in our islands.
I have to say that I am totally impressed with the high level of very professional service provided by Greg at Seacoast Yachts.

My wife Dee and I recently purchased a Tiara 43 through Seacoast Yachts and Vicki Van Hook handled the transaction. We had a great experience and are loving our new boat.
Vicki was very good at helping us through the process of determining what kind of boat we really wanted when we were in the formative stage and then exceptionally responsive to purchase process. Most importantly she was excellent at handling the complexities of the transaction, seemingly more intense than a house.
Our purchase was complicated by the fact that we purchased our boat in San Francisco and transported to Santa Barbara – there were many details to make it happen. We could not be happier and would recommend Vicki to anyone searching for their new adventure.

Vicki,
My two favorite places to be in the world are in the mountains and on the water. When I am in such places, I am readily reminded how lucky I am, and any worries I think I have are quickly put in their proper perspective. When I sit on my boat at the end of the day and look at the golden glow on the hills behind the city, I am similarly reminded how truly blessed I am to be able to have a boat and to have it in a slip here.
It’s been almost five years, but still, virtually every time I walk by your office, I think of you and your call of letting me know of my slip coming available, of what a pleasure it was to work with you, and all of the help with referrals to local service providers you have since provided. I am embarrassed it has taken me this long, but I just want to say thank you for all that you have done for me and how much I have enjoyed working with you. I am happy for you that Seacoast continues to thrive. Your success is well deserved. Thank you again for your help!
