Description
A classic trawler (hull # 142) which has always been well-maintained. She never "brought back" or restored, a series of remodels has kept her updated and in excellent condition. Only two owners in 26 years. The cabin top decks and flybridge decks have been fiberglassed to reduce maintenance, but the lower deck is still teak to perserve the feel of a Grand Banks, and is in very good condition. A classic boat with a classic feel.

Accommodations and Layout
The main salon was updated in 1998. There is a lower helm station forward and to starboard, with the galley across to port. Aft in the salon are two settees and a folding yacht table. The floor is wood and in excellent condition. There is an entertainment center with tambor doors and a TV aft and to port, which was updated in 2002. Large windows all all sides provide plenty of light, ventilation and great visibility when inside. 6' 3" of headroom.
There are two staterooms, one forward and one aft, each with a head. The heads are vac-u-flush, each with its own 30 gallon holding tank and all new hoses.
The forward cabin has a V-berth and a large hanging locker. Head room is 6' 9" and the cabin is very bright with two large windows and an overhead hatch. The forward head was updated in 2001 and has a shower.
The aft cabin has full-sized athwartships berth for two, lots of storage with a full closet and three built-in dressers, all updated in 1998. Lots of beautiful wood throughout. The aft head has a sit down bath/shower.
18,000 BTU Webasto diesel fired central heating system ducted throught the boat (new in 2002).

Deck and Hull
A genuine bluewater cruiser with a proven simi-displacement hull design. The fine entry is combined with a moderate beam and a full-length skeg keel results in excellent seakeeping characteristics in a wide range of conditions.
The cabin top decks and flybridge decks have been fiberglassed with non-skid to reduce maintenance, but the lower deck is still teak to perserve the feel of a Grand Banks, and is in very good condition. The bridge provides plenty of seating with two pair of forward and aft facing seats. The upholstery is in great condition. There is a bimini and a huge top-loading freezer almost four feet long and two and a half feet wide.
There is a hard-bottom inflatable dinghy with a Johnson 15 outboard engine. The dinghy is stored on the aft cabin top and hoisted with a Rule 1800 lb davit winch, which was new in 2001.
Engine and Mechanical
Powered by twin six cylinder 120 hp Ford Lehman diesel engines. At 9 knots and 1900 rpm the boat uses just 3.8 gallons of fuel per hour. Major service was performed in March of 2002 including new oil coolers, hoses, fresh water flush, heat exchangers (acid wash), belts, fluids and filters.
Additional Comments
Introduced in 1965, over 1200 Grand Banks 42's were built before 1991 when they were replaced with a slightly revised model. The Grand Banks 42 is the standard by which other trawlers her size are measured. Her enduring popularity and strong resale value can be attributed to superb engineering and construction, timeless styling and a proven hull design.
