• The vessel "Thesis", was designed by Norm Cross and built by William R. Ingram in San Diego, California of plywood and FRP (Fiberglass) in 1970. The vessel is a custom fiberglass and plywood, diesel auxiliary, cruising trimaran ketch, known as a Cross 39.
  
  The hull construction is FRP over plywood. The main hull is 1/2", double diagonal, cold-molded marine plywood strips, with 3/8" plywood above the chine. All three (3) hulls are covered with two (2) layers of cloth with polyester, with the main beams being 2" x 1" marine plywood, with a deckto-hull joint that gives the vessel its rigidity and stiffness.
  
  Boarding the vessel onto the exterior hull and stepping inside the bimini/dodger puts you in the main, aft cockpit area. Here there is adequate sailing paraphernalia along with navigational aids and engine-monitoring instrumentation. There are two (2) hulls on either side of the main hull leading forward for sailing, anchoring, fishing and other uses. There is a stainless steel bow pulpit, anchor windlass, and two (2) cabin top hatches providing light and air to the cabins below. The aluminum, deck-stepped mast is supported with 1x19 stainless steel wire standing rigging. There is yacht braid running rigging, and a mizzenmast located aft of the cockpit.
  
  Aft of the cockpit there is a small aft cabin that is currently being used for storage. Here there is also a second marine head. From the aft cockpit, down a set of stairs puts you in the main living area. Immediately to port is a U-shaped galley, and to starboard is a nav station-like area with storage. Continuing forward, there is a small settee on the starboard side, with a large, double berth to starboard of that with more storage. To port there is a convertible dinette, with another large berth to port.
  
  Continuing forward through the bulkhead puts you into the marine toilet area. Here, the vanity is on the port side and more storage to starboard. There is an enclosed marine toilet on the port side as well. Continuing forward through the next bulkhead puts you into the storage/sail locker in the "V" of the hull. Here there is a holding tank as well as a chain locker.
  
  This particular vessel has been sailed all over the world. It would be considered a custom, one-off built boat. There has been a lot of work and effort put into it to maintain it. The vessel shows pride of ownership and would be considered a good example of a Cross 39.
