Accommodations and Layout

She is a three cabin layout, sleeping a total of eight people and with an abundance of storage throughout.

The master suite is aft, with a large double berth to port and a pilot berth and settee to starboard, the opera style windows on both port and starboard provide ample light and wonderful anchorage views. The ensuite master head is very large and has a usable shower and marine head with holding tank.

The spacious center cockpit, provides the helmsman with easy access to the navigation equipment and all lines. Access to the engine room is under the two large lazerettes and features stand up head room to the work shop to port and the generator to starboard, head room throughout is 6'4".

Entering the main salon into the pilot house, you descend two step to the raised salon featuring the convertible dinette to port and the galley to starboard. The pilot house provides good visability and is very bright and airy.

Forward and down one step is the guest or crew stateroom, which closes off completely for privacy. This stateroom has a private ensuite head, and a large utility closet for an abundance of storage.

Galley

Coming down the companionway, the galley is in the starboard passageway and is fully open to the warm salon area and features:
  • 1) Hot/cold pressure water.
  • 2) A/C powered cold plate.
  • 3) Built in refrigerator with freezer.
  • 4) Princess two burner electric stove with oven powered by 110v or by the new generator.
  • 5) Two deep stainless steel sinks.
  • 6) Ample storage for utensils, dishware and dry goods.

Note:There is a settee located to port and can be lowered to provide crew accommodations.

Head

If privacy is a concern, the separation of the two ensuite heads make this layout very desirable for any cruiser or crew member. The forward head is plumbed for a shower, but is not currently being used in that manner. An abundance of storage is available in both spaces. The aft master suite head does have a large shower area, generous storage and 6'4" headroom. Both facilities are equipped with standard marine heads, easily maintained and have holding tank capabilities.

Electronics & Navigation

"Flying Pig" is equipped to take you wherever you want to go in comfort and safety.

She's been cruised successfully and is a very dry boat, and loves it when it's really blowing.

She's equipped with:

  • 1) New Simrad WP30 autopilot.
  • 2) Furuno, model 1721 radar.
  • 3) Two Ritchie compasses.
  • 4) Speed and distance logs.
  • 5) Unimetric VHF radio.
  • 6) Seacrest loud hailer.
  • 7) Morrow depth sounder.

She features a brand new Yanmar air cooled 3.75 kw generator located under the cockpit sole to starboard and easily serviced, thanks to stand up head room (6'4"). The new 40 amp automatic battery charger takes all the guess work out of supplying power for your electrical needs.

All new batteries, 2each 12Volt and 2each 6Volt for house and power service.

Deck and Hull

The Islander was designed with cruising in mind. This one is ready to go and is equipped appropriately to do just that, with aluminum spars, new oversized stainless steel wire rigging (5/16) in 1999.

Anchors: CQR 40 lb combined with 350' of chain and one inch rode and a 35 lb Danforth 40 combined with 350' of chain and one inch rode, plus a 35 lb lunch hook mounted aft. Electric power winch and roller chock anchor davits, aluminum spinnaker pole and aluminum wisker pole. New sail covers. Eight foot Seaworthy dinghy.

The deck is wide and manageable for sail handling with good walkaround space and ample gunnel height for safty when underway.

The hull is hand laid, and nearly 2" thick at the turn of the bilge, she is a full keel vessel, yet capable of consistant runs of 8 knots, example: San Francisco to HMB in 4 hours, not a record but very respectable.

Dingy davits with new rigging.

Her most recent haulout was in September 2003. No blisters reported. New zincs. Fresh bottom paint and new polyurethane paint on hull, the latter truly enchances her overall appearance.

Sail inventory (in sail bags below and reported in like new condition:)

  • 1) Two dacron mains.
  • 2) Two dacron jibs.
  • 3) Two dacron mizzens.
  • 4) Drifter.

Engine and Mechanical

The power plant is a Nisson Model #SD-33 and has less than 300 hours. It was installed just prior to the purchase of her present owner. Installed and tested by Richmond Boat Yard.

The engine upgrade makes the handeling of the boat a breeze, considering the overall weight of this vessel.

New Yanmar 3.75 Kw air cooled generator installed September 2003.
