  The Islander 36 designed by naval architect Alan Gurney, may be the perfect combination of competitive performance, cruising reliability and comfort. With over 700 of these boats built they have proven themselves as a reliable cruiser! Gurney gave a deep skeg to provide solid protection for the rudder and to improve tracking ability. The Islander 36 not only looks beautiful in the water , but is fun to sail and easy to maintain. She has proven herself to be a classic in her own time.  

Accommodations

Just three companionway steps down you find yourself in the hand rubbed, all wood interior. Unusual spaciousness is achieved with a combination of a wide beam, 6' 4" headroom and large tinted ports. The main cabin has a foldaway table that seats six, two comfortable settees, built-in book cases and full sized chart table.

The Islander 36 sleeps six-all in 6'4" berths - a quarter berth aft of the chart table, a foldout double berth and a single berth in the main cabin. In the forward cabin there is a full sized V-berth. Three large louvered hanging lockers plus extra drawer storage and a solid wood door close of the rest of the boat for privacy.

The head on the port side and the hanging locker to starboard separate the main cabin from forward cabin.

Galley

Designed with the sea cook in mind, the cruising galley is conveniently located next to the companionway. The galley has a divided deep stainless sink and Storage is well thought out, with special shelving for dishes and glassware. There is a large, well-insulated ice box for keep cold provisions cold.

Deck

The large T-shaped cockpit has contoured seats that give you exceptional comfort whether racing or cruising. There is ample storage under the seats. Forward of the cockpit, the deck is laid out with wide walkways and an ample working area on the foredeck for sail handling. Recessed genoa tracks, teak trim and teak handrails on the doghouse.
