Estate sale, engine needs rebuilding

Some have said that these Beautiful Yachts were created not manufactured! Inspired by Colin Archer, refined by William Atkin and perfected by W.I.B. Crealock, the Westsail series of cruising sailboats ignited America's passion for serious cruising in stout fiberglass double-ender type boats. Less than 80 of the 28's were produced making them a gem in the Clorox bottle world of today’s boats.

This boat is a factory finished model that is in overall beautiful, cosmetic condition with many upgrades over factory such as; newer LP paint, SS bow sprit, newer standing rigging  (exact age is unknown) new to like new sails and much more. Having said that, the Yanmar 3yM30 that was installed in 2008 with less than 140 original hours is frozen and needs rebuilding, the lower sales price reflects that engine work. But she seems to be a solid, well designed, capable blue water cruiser that can be made ready for her next voyage.

Though similar in looks and detailing to the Westsail 32, the smaller boat is a ground up redesign by Herb David and features a number of key improvements. The rig has a taller aspect ratio, the keel is noticeably cut away in the forward sections improving her maneuverability, while the garboards are less hollow which help her track closer to the wind. The resulting boat, in comparison to the Westsail 32, is more maneuverable with a much more responsive helm and the ride is drier (something the Westsail 32 suffered from). Accommodations

Factory finished interior layout. Anchor chain and rode most forward, next aft is forward stateroom with V birth, storage under V bunks, four high drawers for clothing or equipment. Next aft enclosed head to starboard and wet locker to port. Main salon with U configured settee to starboard. Cushions were recently recovered in red Sunbrella. Settee table folds down to double berth. To port gimballed two burner LP propane cooker, SS sink with manual water pump. Navigation station to port side with single 7 ft. Bunk. Teak companionway steps and teak cabinet doors to engine room. Engine is located below the removable cockpit floor, so full access to engine provided. Teak and Holly cabin sole with four panels giving full access to bilge. Eight bronze ports. All functional to provide good air circulation.
