1977 Gulfstar aft cockpit

Forward is a cabin with a v-berth. The cabin is much larger most v-berth cabins and does not have that claustrophic feeling that many have due to a large area aft of the berth for changing. There is a double wide hanging locker to port, a chest of built-in drawers to starboard and lots of storage under the berth. Two large opening ports and the overhead hatch provide plenty of light and ventilation.

Aft of the forward cabin there is another large hanging locker to port and the head to starboard. The head can be entered from the salon or from the forward cabin and has a shower.

The rest of the interior is made up of the salon which results in an open spacious feeling. In the forward half of the salon is are two long settee berths on either side. These both can be pulled out to make double berths. Above and outboard of these berths are two pilot berths, so a total of six people can sleep in the salon. (The cushions have been removed from the pilot berths and they are currently being used as bookshelves and storage. There is a removable double drop-leaf centerline table. Further aft to port is a u-shaped galley, well-designed for cooking at sea. To port is a large L-shaped navigation station with enough room for a typical nav station AND room for a computer desk. Three opening ports and three nonopening ports provide plenty of light.

• In cockpit there are a knotmeter, depthmeter, windspeed and apparant wind indicators. These are all reported inoperative, but it is suspected that it is due to a power supply problem.

The cockpit is large and roomy with teak grating and a very nice raised, cushioned helm seat. Besides the roomy cockpit, the deck is relatively flat and uncluttered, making it easy to move around on or for sunbathing or accommodating a large number of people.

Powerwinch windlass on bow with 35 pound CQR anchor with 40 feet of chain and 200 feet of rode. 13 pound Danforth stern anchor. There is a dodger and bimini. Other features include cockpit cushions, man overboard pole and ring, USCG required safety equipment, fenders, docklines and decklight.
