1978 CT Mermaid Ketch

This boat was well taken care of by a long-time livaboard owner, but has been neglected since the owner became ill. The exterior wood needs to be redone and a lot of cleanup will be required, but we believe the vessel is sound. The teak decks need cleaning and some minor sanding but they still appear to be in good condition with lots of thickness left in the wood. Perkins engine, autopilot, hard dinghy, outboard engine, and thousands of dollars worth of fittings, lines, parts, nuts and bolts, and all kinds bits and pieces left on the boat are included. The comfortable interior is all teak and wood decor with lots of large windows. Head room is about 6' 2". The interior is very dirty and there are lots of parts, tools and equipment scattered around, but the interior wood is in good shape and there is no evidence of any leakage around the windows or anywhere else. The upholstery is generally in good shape as well.

The forward cabin has a split v-berth, a hanging locker, opening port, large overhead hatch and its own head. The raised salon has a convertible L-shaped dinette to port and a settee and navigation station to starboard. The pass-through to the aft cabin is to port and contains the galley. The aft cabin has a large athwartships berth, a vanity/chest of drawers, a large hanging locker, and a private head with a stall shower. There are dead ports (pirate windows) in the stern.

Ketch rigged with jib boom. Both booms have gallows. The running rigging has been carefully set up for ease of operation by the owner, an experienced sailor who lived aboard and sailed constantly. The masts are wood and need varnishing or painting. There several bags of sails, most of the sails appear to be in good shape.

This is a center cockpit boat with hard dodger, fiberglass hull with modified full keel and skeg hung rudder. The decks are teak. They need to be cleaned and restored, but they seem to sound and there is a lot of thickness left. It looks like they would be easy to restore and will have a lot of life left in them. The solid hard dodger has some delamination and other problems and will need repairs.

The four cylinder Perkins diesel engine is quite accessible for maintenance. Other features include a large windlass and anchor, autopilot, hard dingy and outboard engine.
