Description

A performance boat with a cruising interior.

A similar boat to a Catalina 38, but is faster and it has a little larger interior and has a little more headroom.

Anyone considering a Catalina 38 shold definitely preview this vessel.

This boat is equipped with fourteen sails, a Martec prop, an autopilot and a four cylinder 50 hp rebuilt diesel installed in 1996.

Accommodations and Layout

This boat has a very nice interior with full teak decor and teak and holley sole. The upholstery and headliner are in good condition. There is 6' 2" of headroom.

Forward is a large V-berth with two hanging lockers and storage underneath. Aft of the forward berth and to port is a large head with shower. Across from the head is another large hanging locker and a cabinet with four drawers. Further aft in the main salon there is a U-shaped dinette which converts to a double berth to port and a full-length settee to starboard. The galley is to starboard and aft, with the forward-facing navigation station and berth to port

Deck and Hull

This is the CF 37 tumblehome hull with the 10 inch extension which was added to the mold for the later models which lengthens the water line improves the flow of water around the transom.

The bottom paint was done in March of 2002. At that time a new strut was added and the shaft was polished and aligned. There is an updated rudder designed by Alan Andrews.

There is a dodger that comes with the boat, but the canvas and isinglass needs replacement. There is also an awning. Other features include a custom aluminum tiller, a two blade 16 x 15 fixed prop and a two blade 16 x 14 folding Martec prop, man overboard pole and ring, new sail cover, two Danforth anchors with chain and rode, and a hawse pipe forward for the bow anchor and anchor locker. (Most CF's do not have an accessible anchor locker on the foredeck.)

Sails and Rigging

Sloop rigged with a keel-stepped double spreader aluminum mast and boom. There is a spinnaker pole, reaching strut, interal halyards, Hood headfoil, hydraulic backstay adjuster and double vang preventers. The rigging was replaced in 1994. Inboard Garbaner adjustable genoa tracks and Garhouer ball bearing traveller, both new in 1996. Fourteen winches including two #28 primary winches.

Engine and Mechanical

The Pathfinder four cylinder 50 horsepower diesel engine was installed in 1996. (it was a rebuilt engine). There is no hour meter but it is esitmated that the engine has 300 hours on it. In 2001 there was a maintenance check and the injectors were overhauled.
