1979 Navy Whaleboat

Single Detroit Diesel in a solid fiberglass hull overbuilt to rigid US Navy specifications. This is a Navy surplus vessel. It was used to transfer crew and supplies to and from Navy ships and was usually stored on board the ship it was assigned to when not in use. The boat was one of several used during the filming of Pearl Harbor. Because the hull was US made the boat could easily be USCG certified for carrying passengers and is rated for 18 people or 2970 lbs. See our website for other available Navy surplus boats.

One Westerbeke model 4-108 with Paragon model P220 marine gear (2.2:1 reduction ratio). The propellor is a right-hand 3-blade 15-inch diameter x 18-inch pitch. Electrical is 24 volt DC provided by engine driven alternator-rectifier and a battery bank.

Actual boat speed is unknown but estimated to be 7 knots with specified propellor.

Engine hours are unknown but because these boats are normally stored on deck when not in use and usually only used when the ship they are kept on is in port AND not at a dock the hours are assummed to be low.
