Description

47' Robert Perry Center Cockpit Ketch. This luxurious Robert Perry designed yacht was built in 1979 in Taiwan by Universal Marine Ltd.. She displaces 19 tons, has a modified full keel, LOA 46' 7" beam of 13' 5" with a draft of 6'4" and a maximum cruising speed of 8.5 knots under sail.

With her center cockpit and twin cabin layout, this yacht provides extraordinary levels of comfort and privacy for the cruising sailor. She has an all teak interior, teak decks and very spacious quarters for 6 or more in two staterooms plus salon and companionway leading to the aft cabin.

The aft master cabin features a king size bed and a private head and shower. Galley is spacious with double stainless sinks, refrigeration and generous counter tops and food preparation space. Lots of storage, pantry space, multiple cabinets /cupboard.

The hand laid fiberglass hull is very solidly built since it is still one of the earlier fiberglass boats and the wharves tended to overbuild. Below the waterline, the keel is typical of Robert Perry cruising designs being a modified or "cutaway" full keel.

This is the ideal yacht for someone who wants to blue water sail and/or cruise in comfort either as a family or a couple and does not mind giving a boat a little TLC.

Overview

This Perry 47, one of just 13, has been called “The ultimate cruising boat” by many admirers.  The Perry 47 offers superb accommodations for long distance sailing, a weekend cruiser or just spending the afternoon at the dock!   Perry 47’s are loved and admired for their beautiful lines, as well as their mix of speed and stability, made possibly by their unique keel design.  Their interior craftsmanship is found from a bygone area; rich teak wood throughout the interior is breathtaking and would cost a fortune build today and would be reserved for boats in the seven figure range.

Accommodations

The Perry 47 has superb accommodations for long distant cruising with her two separate staterooms, each with abundant storage and private heads. Amidships she is able to handle the off watch crew in safe seaberths.

Starting from the cockpit down to cabin, galley is to port and navigation station is to starboard. Continuing aft from nav station is a hallway with lockers and engine room access. Continue aft to large aft stateroom, there is a queen berth, ample storage and lots of drawers. Full en-suite head to port with a secondary access door that opens into another equal sized area that is a combination workroom, engine room access or roomy closet.  Moving forward again from the at stateroom are two barrel chairs to starboard and a U-shaped dinette to port that also converts to an additional double bed when needed. This is a very open and non cramped area that is great for entertaining. Finally all the way forward is a spacious head to port that features custom tiled sinks as well as a custom bowl sink, and then finally the VIP  stateroom with large  v-berth and abundant storage.

Aft Owners Cabin

The luxury of the aft stateroom is a byproduct of the amazingly comfortable Center cockpit which offers incredible socializing or individual comfort surrounded by friends and family. The "locked in" privacy of the “Captain’s quarters” behind closed doors makes for separation and privacy even while family and friends may be enjoying the large main salon, V berth and outside amenities.

The aft cabin features a queen size bed, copious amounts of storage; drawer, cabinet and hanging lockers as well as an abundance of natural light and ventilation!   The aft head has ample cabinetry behind sliding matching wood louvered doors, as well as a roomy shower with a large circular overhead tubing ring that allows for an enclosed surround curtain private shower or alternately, an open roomy bathroom.

Galley

The galley is positioned amidships where the cook can enjoy the smoothest ride during meal preparation at sea is equipped with spacious independent refrigerator and freezer compartments.

Cockpit

Center cockpits are well known for their excellent, raised viability as well as they are very good at keeping the on watch crew safe and secure in inclement weather.   The large semi-circular cockpit comfortably seats 6 for sailing to points unknown and is  equally suited for dockside entertainment as there is room for up to 10 friends all while surrounding the captain for a dockside party!    The cockpit is also large enough to serve as an extra outside double bed for sleeping under the stars while at anchor.

Utility Room
Utility room or workshop is accessed thru aft head. There is room for washer/dryer, work bench, and other storage.
