This well-known Bob Perry design has been replicated in over 600 vessels,and enjoy a cult following. Many have completed circumnavigations. Tayana 37’sare a true quintessential blue water yacht with a modern underbody, but classic lines above. While the full keel with forefoot cutout provides great tracking and stability, they are sprightly under sail and provide a noticeable sea kindly motion underway. The spoon bow provides buoyancy and soft entry in rough waters. Noteworthy is the encapsulated keel, eliminating concerns for keel bolt integrity.A strong owner’s group supports Tayana devotees.

With the beam carried most of the entire length of the vessel,Tayana37’s provide vast storage and 6'5 headroom below. The interior is lovely solid teak. Newer boats have far less teak because of the prohibitive cost (materials & labor) entailed in doing fine joinerywork.

A reliable Perkins 4-108fifty horsepower dieselengine moves the boat at 6 knots under power through a Hurth transmission. Fuel tank holds approximately 90 gallons. Dual Racor fuel filter system provides for easy transfer under sail from one filter to another.17” three blade fixed prop is solid bronze. New solenoid and remanufactured starter (Oct. 2024). Teak companionway steps remove for engine access as well as access provided from aft cabin. Fire ports are installed on the face of the engine cover. Rigging is serviceable, replaced approximately 12 years ago. Port and Starboard 316 SS chainplates were replaced, upgraded and oversized in 2014 and in excellent condition. Chainplate mounting system was upgraded to G10 fiberglass backing in critical areas with G10 coffer dams installed on deck to eliminate water intrusion through deck mounts, a significant improvement over original design

Tayanaswereoffered as semi-custom yachts. ‘Doc Holiday,’ a USCG documented vessel, sports the sought-after aft cabin layout with all teak bi-fold door for complete privacy. The forward cabin has a large double v-berth also with bi-fold teak door for full privacywith hanging locker.

The head with full separate stall shower (rare feature on 37 ft. boats) resides just aft to port of the forward cabin with hanging locker opposite to starboard. Continuing aft is the main salon with U-shaped dinette.The large teak dining table unfolds athwartship to double its’ size, allowing those on settee opposite to access the table, seating up to 8. The dinette table drops to convert to a double berth. The base of the over 6 ft. settee to starboard slides out creating a 4th optional bunk. Overhead is a beautiful teak butterfly hatch for crosswind ventilation.

Deep twin stainless steel sinks near the centerline are supplied with hot/cold pressure water (water heater is engine or AC fired). Separate foot pumps provide fresh & salt water. SS water tanks hold 150 gallons. There is a large well-insulated ice box, stainless steel Kenyon gimbaled three burner propane stove with oven. SS safety bar in front of stove for safety for the chef in a seaway

115% jib/genoa on Alado roller furler, in new condition. Staysail is ‘hank on’ in fair condition. Mainsail is fully battened, in good condition. The mast is a deck stepped Isomat 49 ft. original anodized aluminum with newish internal halyards. Height is 56 ft. above water line.

Generous varnished teak is part of the Tayana legacy. The all teak main hatch slides over hinged teak doors. This vessel has never had teak decks, meaning no water intrusion into balsa deck core. Cockpit is enclosed in custom 1” SSpushpit rendering a safe and comforting helm station. A custom drop-down SS boarding ladderwith standoff ismounted to starboard gate stanchion on an articulating swivel hinge. Ladder extends well below the waterline for safe re-boarding when swimming, diving or for MOB rescue or boarding from dinghy. Original Tayana dingy davits can stowupright, reducing slip fees based on boat length.

Propane is in an ABYC compliant dedicated aft locker with overboard drain with galley operated on/off solenoid switch.

Solid teak bowsprit was custom ordered from Ta Yang’s boatyard replacing the original of laminated spruce.

‘Doc Holiday’ sports a high-end Lighthouse brand windlass equipped with forward and reverse solenoids and remote controls in addition to deck controls, enabling anchor deployment from the helm. Lighthouse windlasses are highly polished, cast 316 stainless steel; this one equipped with dual gypsies and single capstan. The extra-long main halyard can be rigged through a turning block at the base of the mast and to the capstan enabling the windlass to raise a dingy motor to or from the stern rail, or dingy to deck.

Bow roller is custom 316 SS, specifically designed to hold the Spade anchor. 200 feet of anchor chain stows in self draining compartment below deck. Secondary Danforth style anchor stowed below. Another 200 ft. of unused heavy-duty nylon anchor line is onboard.

110V AC 12/DC. Thirty-amp shorepower service with Pro Mariner Pro Sport 20 smart battery charger and two Group 27 (new October 2024) deep cycle batteries. 6 (total) titanium gold finish Alpenglow LED reading lights each with dimmable rheostats in aft (2) and main (2) cabins and main salon (2), along with numerous other 12v overhead and galley lights. 120V AC swing arm lamp in main salon.

Major through hulls and seacocks (galley, head, and raw water) upgraded and replaced with high end bronze/stainless Groco seacocks and bronze through hulls with G10 backing blocks on most through hulls. Plumbing and mounts in place for Marine Air heater/air conditioner.
