1984 Caliber 28
Specifications
Description
This 1984 Caliber 28 is a Michael McCreary design built by Caliber Yachts in Clearwater, Florida and is hull #4. As reported by the manufacturer, the hull construction is solid FRP (fiber reinforced plastic) with plywood cored decks. The hull is heavily build, fin keel, reverse stern design with a single piece lead ballast and spade rudder. The Vessel is sloop rigged with roller furling. The cabin sleeps three with private head/shower, galley and navigation station.
The Sellers bought Tara in 2009 and over two years they accomplished a full refit. The boat was brought to a bare hull and rebuilt from the ground up. She originally had a good amount of Rot in her so they thought to go deep. Including the total rebuild of her interior. They dropped the keel and inspected her keel bolts and then resealed and set the keel again.
She originally had non opening ports (the Plexi kind) so they filled the original holes with a blend of ¼'' Hydra Teak and 11oz woving glass and then continued to beef up with layers of hydra teak to make the dog house a solid 1'' thick. They then bought new found metals opening ports and installed 4 on each side. The original anchor lockers were very small and shallow. They cut out the old and enlarged it to accommodate adequate ground tackle. Moving towards the bow, they had a custom stainless stem piece made, which holds dual anchor rollers and a electric windlass. Much more work has been put into her,
If you can touch it, it is new or rebuilt…
