• THE TRANSOM GATE deserves particular attention-once you have spent some time on an Islander Cruising 38, you begin to wonder how you existed without a transom gate. It works perfectly for dinghy boarding, swimming, snorkling/diving, and as a boarding ramp in stern to mooring situations.

  The cockpit is very large and extremely comfortable. Despite the wide cabin trunk, the shape of the cockpit is such that visibility is simply not a problem because the "T" configuration allows the person at the helm to sit outboard far enough to comfortably see the luff of the genoa.
