Hellem Nooh accommodates six guests in three spacious two-berth cabins amidships, and two in the owners cabin forward; a total of eight full-time berths. There is a roomy great cabin in the stem with a semicircular sofa seating up to fifteen for conversation, reading, relaxing, or that afternoon nap. Going forward there is a saloon on port for taking meals with the galley opposite on starboard. Amidships there are the three guest cabins each with double berths, skylight and air vent and fan, and the main bathroom including a shower and bathtub on starboard. The owner's cabin forward has a full double berth on starboard, a settee opposite and full head with shower forward next to the chain locker. This cabin is the crew's quarters when the vessel is on charter. On deck there is a wheelhouse and navigation center immediately accessible below deck.

The galley is on starboard opposite the large saloon seating eight. There is a five burner propane gas cooker/stove with oven, a microwave, two stainless steel sinks, a refrigerator/freezer and 10 gallon water heater. The countertop has a section that can be lowered for additional working space. There is provision for a salt water pump and a built-in system for wine storage.

In the wheelhouse there is a Furuno 24 mile radar display unit, Navico electronic compass, Navico VHF radio, engine instruments and controls, Navico wind speed and direction, boat speed, and depth instruments, and a windlass control panel. Below deck in the navigation area of the qreat cabin there is a Loran C, duplicate engine instruments, loud hailer and intercom, ship's clock and barometer, and a large chart table with plenty of book storage and work space, along with the ship's stereo entertainment system. There is plenty of space for a desktop computer/printer workstation. Wind, sail trim, and speed are also duplicated on deck atop the deck locker.

The vessel is served by 12 volt DC and 220 volt AC 50 Hertz power either from shore or from a 15 KW Westerbeke auxiliary generator when away from the dock. There are five 12 volt DC 210 ampere-hour battery banks, I engine, 1 generator, I electronic instrumentation, and 2 house batteries for lighting and pumps all in GRP lined battery boxes with charge splitters.. All batteries are charged by a 40 ampere 220 volt AC/12 volt DC battery charger running off shore power or the generator, or by a 130 amp alternator running off the main engine. The microwave, music systems, computer/printer and two air conditioners are powered by 220 volt AC through approved circuit breaker systems. All electrical wiring was installed by a marine electrician. Air conditioners are 1.5 Ton water cooled units. The galley refrigerator is an Electrolux 12 volt DC/220 volt AC unit, and there is a large top loading deep freezer powered by 220 volt AC in the great cabin.

This is a classic staysail schooner with three masts, marconi double reefed main, foresail, and mizzen, with club footed jib, genoa headsail, and two fisherman top'sails. Masts are Canadian fir, standing rigging is galvanized steel wire rope, running rigging is polyester, and sails are dacron and nylon. Sail inventory includes jib, genoa, drifter, foresail, main, mizzen, 2 fisherman top sails, and storm sails.

The vessel is fabricated of steel to BSS 4360 43A by certified welders under control of the owner in Bahrain and is built according to Lloyds rules for vessels of this size. Keel plates are of 1/2" in. and 5/8 in. up to the first chine, and 1/4 in. thereafter with the exception of bulwarks and sub-deck which are 1/8 in. plate. Frames are 3 in. x 3/8 in. on 30 in. centers, and longitudinal stringers are on 10 in. centers of I in. x 3/8 in. flat bar. Corrosion protection is by Hempels Marine Paint; after grit blasting to BS 2.5 inorganic zinc and coal-tar epoxy before barrier coat and chlorinated rubber top coat. Decks are 4 in. x 6 in. Canadian fir. Railings, hatches and trim are Burmese teak. Bottom paint is 2 years old. MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT AND ENGlNE DETAIL A single Perkins 6-354 main propulsion engine and Westerbeke auxiliary generator are located in an insulated engine room under stem cabin sole with access through a double hatch. Fuel is supplied to both engines by dual Racor filters with control valves. Main engine transmission is Borg Warner; the deep seal was replaced in 1996. Cooling water is from a single sea chest feeding both engines, air conditioners, and toilets, each with turn on/off valves. Navico sensor through-hull is in a well under filters with separate coffer dam. Hydraulic steering gear is (name brand, type and location). Spare pumps, filters, and many other spare parts are located in shelves, and there is an easy-to-use oil change system installed for servicing both the Perkins and the Westerbeke. There are two bilge pumps, one under the engine, and one under the engine shaft. There is a bilge water/smoke alarm. ON DECK There is a 14.5 ft. rigid bottom Joker inflatable with center console wheel steering and 50 Hp Mariner outboard carried on deck, 250 lb. stern davits, and a passerelle (gangplank) for stern-to docking. The poop deck has a remove teak dining table, and there is a midships deck locker for recreational gear, deck chairs, sun mattresses, snorkeling, barbecue, and a paint and tool lockers, and lockers for cordage. The foredeck chain locker has standing room and houses chain under use, spare chain, spare cordage, and extra fenders. Propane is stored in 2 cylinders in ventilated lockers on foredeck. Three 25 Gal. Jerry jugs on each side for extra water and fuel.

SAFETY EQUIPMENT There are five man overboard rings, one 10-man Plastimo life raft in a valise, lifelines/jackets for 9 passengers and 3 crew, five fire extinguishers placed in the engine room, foredeck, wheelhouse, galley, under chart table. Each bilge has a smoke/bilge water alarm as does the corridor, master cabin, stern cabin. Gas/fume detector is SN-INTEX. Vessel is inspected and approved by Turkish Government for carrying passengers for hire. COMMENTS This superbly designed vessel is ideally suited for family cruising or charter. The recent build in steel to heavy scantlings provides unusual safety and comfort to passengers, guests, and crew under the most strenuous sea conditions. She is designed to go anywhere, but is completely ready for cruising the Mediterranean immediately.
