“Fantome”
1985 Hershine 41
Specifications
Description
Fantome (French for Ghost) has been used to cruise the local So Cal waters by the current owners for the last 16 years. The owners have hired delivery crew to deliver the boat to the Pacific Northwest for local cruising in the sound and for several trips through the inside passage to Alaska. Southern California has been her home.
She is a proven cruiser with well maintained Perkins diesels. These trawlers are known for a smooth, quiet, fuel efficient ride with a sharp forward entry to cut into the waves and a classic flared bow to softly absorb the entry into the wave. The flared bow also acts to deflect the spray outward for a drier riding boat in heavier seas. She sits well at anchor in a heavy blow.
The engine room is well kept and the interior layout is ideal for cruising with a center line queen bed in the aft cabin and a forward Vee berth for guests. The spacious salon has opening doors port and starboard and features a warm teak trimmed interior with parqueted teak flooring throughout. The galley is down and out of the way. There are two heads with marine toilets. The aft head has a tub shower. There is a usable lower helm.
Topside features a generous walk around deck and a large enclosed flybridge area. Most Hershine trawlers came with teak decks. This boat was report ably ordered without teak decks. This is a big positive in buying an older trawler.
