Description

This boat was USCG certified for charter (inspection certificate has lapsed), but needs some work, which is why it is priced well below market. Addition of a sugar scoop to the transom has increased the waterline by an additional three feet. It would make a great charter boat for harbor cruises and daysails, or for somebody who just wants to go fast under power or sail. Includes approximately 30 bags of sails.

Engines

Total Power: 56
Cruising Speed: 7 knots (est)
Max Speed: 9 knots (est)

Accommodations

The interior is wide open and headroom is 6' 2" in most of the boat. All the way forward there is a very large and comfortable v-berth. This area can be converted to a sail locker. Moving aft there are two pilot berths, one on each side. Further aft are two outboard settees which can also be used as berths, and then the galley to port and the navigation station to starboard. To starboard of the companionway there is a large head with a bathtub extending aft. To port there is a large berth and sitting area.

The cushions are complete and in fair to good condition. The sides and overhead are plain fiberglass which would be easy to clean up. The parquet floor is in poor condiditon and needs replacement.

Galley

  • Three burner propane stove with oven
  • Double stainless steel sink
  • Two large ice boxes

Electronics & Navigation

The electronics are dated but most appear to be operational.

  • Signet Smartpak (speed/depth/log) at helm
  • Signet windpoint/windspeed at helm
  • AP100DL autopilot at helm
  • Compass
  • Singet Smartpak repeater at navigation station
  • Northstar 800 Loran
  • Garmin GPS
  • Magnavox SatNav
  • Stephens Engineering SSB
  • Uniden VHF
  • Alden weatherfax
  • JVC CD player with cabin and cockpit speakers
  • EPIRB

Deck and Hull

The hull appears structurally sound with no damage. At some time in the past the joint between the deck and hull was leaking and this was repaired with fiberglass. This fiberglass repair is blistering and will have to be repaired properly. The rest of the hull and deck look OK.

A sugar scoop was added to the transom which has extended the waterline by about three feet. There is a long wooden transom seat installed for chartering.

The keel has reportedly been replaced with a larger, deeper keel and has a draft of 9'6".

Sails and Rigging

  • Sloop rigged with keel stepped mast
  • Upgraded mast from a Santa Cruz 70 (71 ft from deck)
  • Approximately 30 bags of sails
  • Rod rigging
  • Hydraulic boom vang
  • Lazy jacks
  • Running backstays
  • Spinnaker pole
  • Winches include two Maxwell #28 two-speed self-tailing and two Harkin Barbarossa two-speed self-tailing on cabin top and two Lewmar #40's, four Barient #52's and two more Harken Barabarossas in cockpit

Additional Comments

Lots of life jackets and a life raft as well as other equipment required for Coast Guard certification.

This boat needs cosmetic work as well as fiberglass and paint work, but by nature is a relatively simple and easy to maintain vessel with simple systems and no teak. The striking lines attract attention to the boat wherever it goes and the speed under sail or power is amazing.
