Description

This Catalina 42 features a 3-Cabin Pullman layout which is excellent for couples and/or families wanting to go to the Islands and stay a few days in comfort. This Catalina appears to have been very well maintained, comes with a Yanmar Engine, Furling headsail, Dutchman flaking system, Dodger, Cockpit Cushions, suitable electronics package, inverter/charger and upgraded 12 volt battery system including AGM batteries and a high output alternator.

Accommodations

Forward-most in the owner's cabin is the ensuite head compartment with separate shower. The owner's cabin features a large Pullman berth to port with drawers beneath and hanging locker and drawer storage to starboard. Next aft is a very accommodating L-shaped settee/dinette to port, followed by the chart table/freezer locker. Opposite is the linear-style galley, followed by the second head/shower compartment. Aft to port and starboard and separated by the companionway and engine compartment are two mirror-image cabins, each with a large double berth, drawer and hanging locker storage. A well designed layout with generous storage throughout, great ventilation and comfortable accommodations. The interior is done in teak veneers and solids, white ash batten hull ceiling, and teak/holly cabin sole. The interior upholstery was new in 2012.

Galley

Linear galley to starboard amidships, with s/s sink forward followed by the stove w/oven, then the top-loading refrigeration. Very good counter top space and abundant storage lockers and drawers throughout.

Sails and Rigging

Isomat double spreader keel stepped mast, Isomat boom with internal single line reefing and ridgig boom vang. Standing rigging is 1x19 wire rope, Dacron braided running rigging. The majority of the sail control lines are led aft to the cockpit via deck organizers to sheet stoppers and self-tailing winches.

Hull and Deck

Hand laminated single piece GRP hull with molded partial skeg forward of spade rudder, and external lead keel. The deck is also single piece GRP construction with end grain balsa cored sections, and in areas of high load and stress the deck is a solid laminate. In areas of deck hardware there are either aluminum or brass backing plates, and the hardware is then either thru-bolted or drilled and tapped into the backing plates. The hull to deck joint is a hatbox type, then thru-bolted and screwed, with 3M 5200 Marine Sealant, then covered and protected with an aluminum rub rail w/vinyl insert.
