Description

Named "Adrenalin," she is from the basic Santa Cruz 50 Design by Bill Lee with a special Aluminum hull grid integrating the standing rigging chain plates and keel effectively strengthening the entire boat. The result is an incredibly sturdy craft which is comforting in bad weather conditions.

The updated keel, rig, increased freeboard and modified construction details, and scantings were done by Alex Simonis, international naval architect. The high-tech construction is the very best offered by South Africa. Built as a racer with a good IMS rating, she is a winner in all respects as she is also a safe and comfortable ocean cruiser. A 10,000 mile cruise was just completed without incident and a full captain's report is available upon request. The captain was mightily impressed with her sturdiness and found this to be "a very of out the ordinary boat....and I have never felt so safe and content..."

Additional Comments

The boat was designed and constructed to be stronger and more rigid for South African waters, and it even turned out to be a little lighter due to the aluminum framework. Bill Lee liked the design so much he is considering incorporating some of her features in his other designs. The boat also has a slightly longer water line than other Santa Cruz 50's due to a transom extension.
