Description

Don't let the name "SLOWPOKE" fool you, as her performance certainly belies her name. The Catalina 380 was introduced in 1996 as a great couples or family cruising boat that incorporates terrific sailing characteristics with a very nice turn of speed, and at the same time a comfortable and accommodating interior, including a 2-cabin, single head interior with full beam Owner's cabin aft. New to the market and actively for sail and for sale.

Accommodations

The interior of the Catalina 380 begins with a spacious V-berth arrangement forward and includes a separate vanity with sink, drawer and hanging locker storage. Moving aft into the salon is a straight bench settee to starboard followed by the outboard-facing chart table. Opposite is a C-shaped port settee convertible dinette table that lowers to make a double berth. There is storage below and outboard of the settee berths. Aft of the dinette is the L-shaped galley, and opposite is the head & shower compartment, featuring a separate shower stall, thereby eliminating the "wet head" syndrome. Aft next is the full width Owner's cabin with centerline queen berth, and very generous storage by way of multiple hanging lockers, shelves and drawers. The interior is spacious, bright and well ventilated, aided by numerous opening hatches portlights. Interior wood is varnished teak paneling with white oak hull ceilings, cabin sole is varnished teak & holly with vinyl non-skid in the galley.

Galley

The L-shaped galley is at the base of the companionway to port.

Deck & Hull

The Catalina 380 is constructed with a solid GRP laminate schedule above and below the waterline, and is ballasted with a lead fin keel, attached with 316 S/S keel bolts. The rudder is a balance spade rudder with a tubular stainless steel rudder post. The deck is done in a sandwich construction utilizing double scored end grain balsa. In areas of high load and/or deck hardware and fittings, the laminate is solid GRP with aluminum backing plates, which are then either drilled and tapped for machine bolts, or drilled and thru-bolted. The hull-to-deck marriage is a hatbox style that is sealed, thru-bolted and screwed, then covered with an aluminum rub rail and vinyl insert. The rigging chainplates are well inboard for tighter sheeting angles and affording wide side decks for fore and aft movement.
