1996 Custom 55

This is a true "go anywhere" sailing yacht. She was built in New Zealand by real ship builders and designed by a real navel architect Brooks! Her build and welds are of super quality and her full structural bulkhead and grid system is impressive. She does need someone to go through her and update the rigging, electronics, and some additional systems. However, once done you will have an awesome cruising machine capable of any ocean sailing. Her design was set up for short handed sailing and is ideal for a cruising couple and guest. Put the time into this boat and you wont be sorry you did!

I have limited information on her history because the owner died recently. He was an engineer and worked closely with the builder. Him and his wife loved this boat and extensively sailed her offshore for years. I will also include some line drawings I found to help understand the boat.

What the boat needs: I think its is in pretty fair condition. She needs a person to go over the systems to see what works and what one may want to upgrade. Most everything probably works but most buyers will want to up grade electronics some sails. If one was going around the world cruising I would re do the rigging, canvas, electronics, sails. A qualified tech  should go over the water maker and the refrigeration and freezer system.
