Maxum was created in 1987 by U. S. Marine with the clever strategy to provide a more upscale yacht and yet still be priced competitively. Particulary in the larger boats, the components and quality seemed to exceed that found in Bayliner's normal line. The strategy seemed to have payed off, because Maxum is now one of the largest fiberglass boat manufacturers in the world.

Maxum's 4600 SCB offers a luxurious interior with abundent space and excellent performance with the popular twin Cummins Diamond Series turbo charged diesels. The 4600 features two private staterooms each with a private head and a separate shower. The private master head boasts a luxurious tub. The master stateroom is forward with a walk around centerline double berth, cedar lined closets, overhead lighting, and air conditioning. The guest stateroom is to starboard and steps down into two single berths that may also be combined to make a large double berth.

The salon is open and light and takes full advantage of the wide 14' 4" beam. Aft in the salon is a large semi circular sofa and matching table. Opposite to starboard is an entertainment center in a custom cabinet. The galley is on the same level as the salon, a dinette is raised and forward. The entire interior is trimmed in cherry wood, carpeted, and air conditioned. Large windows offer 360 degree visability.

Other notable features of the 4600 SCB are the extra wide swim platform, the molded in fiberglass stairs to the flybridge, the large enclosed flybridge area, and a sunbathing area on the for deck.
