This is a very clean, very well equipped example of a Jeanneau 49 Sun Odyssey and is priced EXTREMELY Competitively  on the market!!!

The Philippe Briand designed Sun Odyssey 49 is one of the best looking Jeanneau yachts ever built but she is also powerful, elegant and strong, yet easy to sail.  The construction method used employs a single skin Kevlar reinforced GRP and conventional wooden frames. She has clear wide side decks, a large cockpit with twin steering wheels, a powerful battened mainsail and a furling genoa. The Sun Odyssey 49 is also a true passage maker. Her optimized underwater hull shape - with a maximum waterline length, moderate beam and bulbed keel is a great formula for ocean sailing under a variety of conditions.

As versatile as her sailing attributes are, she is equally unique and versatile down below. This boat has the ingenious convertible cabin system making this boat a 2, 3 or 4 cabin layout by simply removing the cabin partitions. The two forward cabins with private heads can easily be combined into one large owner’s suite with centerline, queen size bed by the removal of the cabin dividers which are then stored under the bed. Also the two aft cabins each with private heads can also be converted into one large VIP guest stateroom by doing the same.

   Little Wing appears to have been VERY well maintained by her current and previous owners and shows in well above average cosmetic condition! Little Wing did spend the first few years of her life as a charter vessel in the Caribbean but in 2008, her previous owners took her out of the program and then dry sailed her, only using her for their personally vacations a few months a year. 

    This boat is very well equipped and recently received a significant refit (all since 2016) to her electronics, equipment and systems including; New Raymarine E90, multifunction display, New AGM batteries, New canvas including the dodger, New headliner and much, much more. The Sun Odyssey 49 is a true passage maker. Her optimized underwater hull shape - with a maximum waterline length, straight stem, moderate beam and bulbed keel is the best formula for ocean sailing under all conditions. She is powerful, elegant and strong, yet easy to sail being a classic design from the renowned architect Philippe Briand. The magnificent Sun Odyssey 49 is one of the most seductive yachts around, with a classic teak-clad interior.

Accommodation

This Sun Odyssey 49 interior layout has the ingenious convertible cabin system making this boat a 2, 3 or 4 cabin layout, each with its own private, en-suite head and shower. By simply removing the cabin partitions, the two forward cabins with private heads can easily be combined into one large owner’s suite with center-line, queen size bed by the removal of the cabin dividers which are then stored under the bed. Also the two aft cabins each with private heads can also be converted into one large VIP guest stateroom by doing the same.

Saloon: The, spacious, open saloon features an abundance of natural light and ventilation. The interior teak veneer and wood cabinetry are all in amazing condition and beautifully varnished making the boat warm and inviting.  The cabin sole is of durable, low maintenance teak and holly composite floor panels.The raised u-shaped saloon dining area is to starboard and comfortably seats eight around the varnished table with fiddles and a central storage compartment. There is a central bench seat with storage below and the table converts to a double berth (This vessel easily sleeps 10). The navigation station is located directly aft of the dinette and is ample size to accommodate a ¼ size chart booklet as well as having plenty of space for electric navigation via a lap top. The galley located across from the dinette to port is very generous and runs along the entire port side of the salon offering ample counter space which is sure to accommodate any culinary indulgences one may have. The entire yacht is air conditioned by Cruisair.3 zones air conditioning units (dockside only).

Galley: The spacious galley has ample work space and offers an abundance of storage. It features deep double stainless steel sinks, three stage water filter and mixer tap for hot and cold water, 3 burner s/s, propane stove/oven. There are 2 well insulated refrigeration compartments with top access with a total capacity of 60 gals. The 12v, Frigoboat, keel cooled refrigeration system is extremely efficient insuring that your beverage of choice will be cold to drink while not draining your batteries at the same time.

Cabins: The forward cabins when converted into the two, private double cabins version would each have one hanging locker, shelving, a drawer and storage below the beds. Ventilation is through overhead hatches and grids opening into the forward sail locker. A two speed cabin fan, air-condition and excellent lighting add to the comfort of these cabins. Each cabin has an en suite head with s/s washbasin, storage cabinet above sink, mirror and towel holders. Ventilation is provided by opening tinted portholes and hatches. All of the heads on this vessel also feature the highly desirable gravity emptied holding tank systems (no electric macerators to fail!) as well as independent shower sump pumps. The two forward cabins can easily be converted into one large owner stateroom by removal of the central bulkhead which is then stored under the berth. This would then give the master suite a center line, queen size bed and two head layout.The two, identical, double, aft cabins feature a hanging locker and storage shelves. Natural ventilation in each cabin is through an overhead hatch and 3 portholes. These cabins also have a fan, air-condition and excellent lighting. Each cabin has its own private head with s/s washbasin, storage cabinet above sink, mirror and towel holder. Ventilation is provided by opening tinted portholes and hatches. The 2 aft cabins can also be easily converted into one large,VIP cabin.

Why I like this boat?

• Privately owned and not chartered since 2008
• This boat is super easy to sail, even single handed, I can have it under full sail in less than 15 minutes from the dock (In long Beach)
• This boat is fast and handles like a dream. This boat makes 9 knots easily
• This boat has excellent upwind sailing ability
• The smaller staysail is perfect for a light afternoon sail, or if you have children or inexperienced people on board. Of course its great for heavy weather as well
• Get out the larger headsail if your really going somewhere
• Twin helms with a simple mechanical designed cable system, Nothing complicated to break. 

 There are no complicated systems on board.  The classic mainsail with lazy bag is a dream to use, if the weather kicks up simply fall off wind and release the halyard and the sail comes down in a second, I have been on boats with furling mainsails that have jammed (Coming out and going in) fortunately never in heavy weather.  Furling mainsails are smaller and flatter, you can’t adjust the shape of them like a classic main.   Power winches are very overrated, I have on more than one occasion seen someone snap the line because they were not paying attention when pressing the button on the power winch. Power winches also require more battery power. Raising the mainsail on this Jeanneau is no workout.

   Watermakers are notorious for not working properly unless used all the time.  Coastal sailing never requires a water maker.  Doing extended sailing in the Caribbean we never had an issue filling our water tanks. Most sailors would be much better served by investing in a manual watermaker for an extended passage. All the heads have manual pumps and gravity drains, there are no macerators to break, The tanks simply drain into the ocean unless you wish to pump them out at the dock.  We have had no issues or clogs with the manual pumps.  The batteries on this boat will last four days with both the refrigerator and freezer set to the coldest settings, and using lights, radios etc…    Simply firing the engine up will top them off again. 

   Four cabins and four heads?  Yes this boat can be configured to have four separate cabins and four separate heads, why would you need this? Most people don’t but let me tell you when you do its really nice, for everyone to have their own space.  Both forward and aft cabins have removable partitions that come out in just a few minutes and stow away under the births.  This boat can have 2-3-or 4 cabins at will.  For southern California cruising this boat is awesome! You can take all your friends to Catalina with the four cabins, or you can set the boat up for easy sailing with just two couples on board.

  This boat will make an excellent choice as a world cruiser with its long waterline. Strong fully glassed grid, staysail and simple systems.  The addition of a wind vane would be the primary piece of equipment currently lacking.  The new navigation system with seatalk backbone is plug and play for all of the modern electronics if you wish to add radar AIs etc.

  Want to make some extra money with your boat, This is an excellent charter vessel with four cabins and plenty of extra room,  Its currently moored in a commercial slip in the heart of Long Beach Rainbow harbor.  The slip is extra wide which allows you to leave your dingy in the slip alongside the boat.  You can walk to everything, there are restaurants and bars at the end of the dock and all the events Long Beach has to offer are directly at your dock.   What better place to have a charter vessel.
