“Emotional Rescue”
2005 Catalina 42 MKII
Overview
Specifications
Description
The Catalina 42 MkII has earned a reputation as one of Catalina’s finest cruising designs, offering an exceptional combination of sailing performance, comfort, stability, and practical cruising accommodations. This 2005 example is especially attractive, with a desirable two-cabin, two-head layout and an impressive list of equipment and upgrades.
At the heart of the boat is a dependable Yanmar 55 HP diesel, coupled to a 3-blade feathering propeller for excellent maneuverability under power and reduced drag while sailing.
The vessel has been upgraded with modern navigation and communication equipment, including Radar, AIS, Chart-plotter, and Autopilot. Whether cruising the Southern California coast, heading to Catalina, or planning longer passages, the electronics package provides the information and automation needed for confident cruising.
The sails are approximately four years old, offering another significant advantage for the next owner. A hardtop dodger provides excellent protection at the helm while maintaining visibility and comfort in a variety of conditions.
Ground tackle is particularly impressive, with approximately 440 feet of anchor chain, providing plenty of scope for secure anchoring in deeper water and making this Catalina well suited for extended cruising.
The electrical system includes an inverter/charger, adding the convenience of AC power while away from the dock and helping make longer cruising and anchoring stays more comfortable.
