Manufacturer Provided Description
This is the long limbed big sister to the pace setting AE 28 and a strong family resemblance is evident in the balanced overhangs, delicate sheer and proportionate cabin. A combination of Carl Schumacher's underwater lines and a new deck, cockpit, cabin and topside by the Pearson design Group has produced a yacht that lives up to the Herreshoff legacy of classic beauty. The amazing strength of a modern carbon fiber mast by Hall Spars safely allows the elimination of the backstay, which in turn frees the mainsail for significantly larger size and better aerodynamic shape-proven by record setting windsurfers, multihulls and America's Cup contenders. Sail control by electric winches enables one person to hoist, reef, trim and lower sail, all from the wheel station. With the patented Hoyt Jib Boom adding offwind power, this is a 2 sail, self tacking rig that projects more sail area than any ordinary rig with a 150% genoa. The payoff is excellent light wind and offwind speed-all easily single-handed. Sail tests indicate speed superior to the competition and all for more reasonable price.
Accommodations
Beautifully finished below decks (as well as above) in the "Herreshoff style" with varnished teak trim on white flat panels. The cabin sole is varnished teak and holly. Accommodations for four in an open airy layout courtesy of the six fixed ports and one large and two small opening hatches. Artificial lighting is provided via overhead dome lights in working spaces in the head and galley and swivel style "tulip lights" at the berths and settees.
Starting forward is the stateroom open to the salon though that could easily be made more private should one so choose. The V-berth is a full 6'-6" and there is storage under in drawers and bin type storage. Above the berth the hull is lined with varnished teak ceilings and there is a storage shelf with fiddle running full length. At the forward bulkhead is a hatch leading to the anchor locker and aft is a small bureau with drawers to starboard and a hanging locker to port.
Next aft is the salon space with straight settees P&S below which there is tankage and batteries and some storage, behind the seat backs there is storage in cubbies and above there is storage in shelves with fiddles and lockers. Aft of the port settee is a hanging locker and above the port settee is the yacht's electrical distribution panels. In the center of the salon is a beautiful varnished dual pedestal table
Aft and to port is the enclosed head with electric W.C. plumbed via a Y-valve to the holding tank, vanity with storage and polished stainless steel sink with H&C pressure water. The faucet is a "telephone" type to allow for showering. There is a separate sump for the ensuite shower.
Aft and to starboard is the Galley with white Formica counter tops, large top loading refrigerator, Force 10 (2) burner stove with oven, and lots of storage in several drawers.
