Specifications
Description
Lanikai is an excellent example of the popular Hunter 44 Deck Salon equipped with a NEW North performance vertical batten mainsail and NEW North performance genoa. full electronics, a tender mounted on Garhauer davits, an asymmetrical spinnaker in a sock, and full canvas The vessel has received regular mechanical maintenance and is washed weekly and waxed every 6 months and shows as new. The Hunter 44 DS has very spacious accommodations generally seen only on much larger vessels. The hull sports a unique “bow hollow” forward, creating a longer waterline for increased lift and speed. The underbody aft also has a stern reflect for a flatter exit, resulting in enhanced stability and reduced wake characteristics. The Hunter 44 Deck Salon offers an extremely comfortable living space, featuring swing-out companionway doors to the interior, upholstered salon settees, and a high-gloss dinette table big enough to serve the whole crew. An upgraded Isotherm refrigerator and a separate stainless steel refrigerator/freezer highlight the galley. A master stateroom with a queen berth and private head, forward guest cabin with V-berth, and head complete this inviting interior. A Heart 2750 pure sine wave inverter and AGM house and engine batteries were replaced in 2018.
Accommodations
Above decks the 44 Deck Salon was designed to offer easy sail handling. The cockpit features high coamings for comfortable seating under sail or dockside and a walk-thru transom for easy access to the dinghy davits and stern ladder. All lines lead aft to coach roof mounted sheet stoppers and self-tailing winches. The main sheet and main halyard winch are electric. The genoa sheet winches are mounted aft next to the helm. The mainsheet traveler control lines are mounted off the arch for quick release and adjustment. All the lines are within easy reach of the helm for safe passage or single-handed sailing. The custom bimini, connector, and dodger provide excellent protection from the elements.
The raised deck salon coach roof affords oversized windows providing abundant natural light and ventilation thus creating a very open and airy feeling. There is a large dinette to the port and a long bench settee to the starboard. The settee is long enough to lie down on, and the dinette converts to a double berth. Aft of the starboard settee is the full navigation station with a navigation desk, electrical panels, tank gauges, and navigation instruments. The spacious well-equipped galley is to port and offers all the amenities for the cruising chef with solid surface countertops, separate refrigerator/freezer, propane stove/oven, and many drawers and cabinets.
The owner’s stateroom entry is starboard and aft with a private entry to the head just inside the cabin door. Stepping down into the cabin, there is a slightly offset centerline queen island berth with a padded headboard mattress. On the starboard side of the cabin is a large cedar-lined hanging locker with a fiddled shelf above. Aft of that is a deep nightstand. A fiddled shelf runs the length of the berth along the hull and has areas of storage beneath it. On the port side, there is another cedar-lined hanging locker, a wide changing seat with storage beneath it, and a recessed bookshelf with adjustable shelves. There is a dressing table solid surface countertop with an arched mirrored-door locker with an adjustable shelf and 3 dressing lights above it. There is additional storage beneath the berth. Behind the countertop and cabinet is access to the transmission and aft engine. There are four opening ports, one fixed port, and an opening hatch for lighting and ventilation. Additionally, there are reading lights at the head of the bed and one in the seating area, three lights above the vanity space, and two overhead lights. Headroom is 7'2" at the entry and 32" of space above the mattress to the cockpit insert.
The forward cabin V-berth has ample headroom of 6'1" and is spacious and has locker spaces beneath as well as storage under the berth. Fiddled shelves that wrap continuously around above either side of the berth. A large arched mirror at the foot of the bed helps make the space feel even larger than it already is. There is a settee on the starboard with storage beneath it. Aft of the seat is a cedar-lined locker with a cedar-lined hanging space on one side and adjusting shelving on the other. The forward stateroom has ample headroom of 6'1".
