On deck

The 349 packs a lot in a small package. The halyards and control lines at the mast all run aft on the cabin top to winches there and to the winches aft at each helm. The boom vang and backstay are adjusted with simple block and tackle systems.

There is no traveler for the main sheet. Instead, the sheet runs along the boom to two blocks, one of which is attached to two Dyneema strops that hold the sheet block amidships. This is a really simple system.

The cockpit is large and comfortable. Aft, there is a dedicated compartment for a life raft. The stern transom folds down quite easily and makes for a wide surface for lounging and for boarding the dinghy. The 349 cockpit and deck arrangement have been very carefully designed for comfort and performance.

  • Custom Sunbrella boat cover for the entire cockpit and hatch
  • Teak has been recently varnished with 7 new coats
  • Dyneema Running Gear
  • Genoa Lead Rings Adjustable from Cockpit
  • Spinnaker Fittings
  • Line Bags in Cockpit
  • Upgraded Folding Cockpit Table w/Cover
  • Large Fold Down Swim Platform
  • Telescoping Swim Ladder
  • Electric Windlass

Interior space

Ambiance of the 349's interior is right in line with Jeanneau's modern trend of making their interior spaces bright, well ventilated and accented with handsome teak trim and golden oak flooring. Jeanneau has splurged and fitted the 349 with LED lights that will help reduce onboard energy use.

Two cabins and a single head with a sizable stall shower. Owner customized the aft cabin into a large athwartships berth. Upgraded fabric below deck. Integrated safe for valuables aft cabin.

The L-shaped galley to starboard with a single sink near the centerline, a two-burner stove, an microwave and top-loading refrigeration with a multi-stage compressor for maximum efficiency. There is storage outboard of the counter and beneath the stove and sink.

The forward has a V-berth with the water tank underneath. Double doors create a nice opening to the saloon when privacy is not an issue.

The saloon has an impressive 6ft 3in of headroom and includes a drop-leaf table, which opens up the space when down, but can comfortably seat four for dinner when up. A dedicated aft-facing nav station incorporates the port-side settee as a seat. The boat is equipped with LED lighting throughout. This includes the nav lights on deck.

Sails and more..

The 349’s fractional rig supports double aft-swept spreaders. The Selden mast is tall, and the boom relatively short, so the boat takes advantage of wind higher up but still has a mainsail that's easily managed by one or two.

  • Two Sets of Sails Carbon Fiber and Dacron (Main and Jib)
  • Asymmetrical Sail
  • Newer Sail Track Slides on Mast
  • Rigid Boom Vang
  • Stack-pack Main sail system
  • (4) winches: two on the cabin top and two primaries
  • Cordless Winch Handle for Main

Design-build

The profile is sleek for a shorter, wide boat, and that’s mostly due to the low cabintop. The hull has a reverse sheer for increased interior volume and a hard chine that develops well forward of maximum beam to add stability. A standard fin keel with an elongated bulb and lifting wings draws 6ft 6in.

The hull is hand-laid fiberglass with a fiberglass grid. The injection-molded deck, constructed using the Jeanneau’s patented Prisma process, is cored with end-grain balsa.

The Twin rudders make the boat responsive under sail or power.
